Stone Town Tour

This is a Half-Day guided Tour visiting all of Stone Town’s historical and cultural attractions while getting a deep insight into the rich culture and history of this World Heritage Site. Depending on your accommodation, you will be picked up at your hotel at around 8:30 am and be transferred to Stone Town. Your tour will start at the Anglican Church with a introduction into the history of Stone Town, also called old Town or Zanzibar Town, by our professional local guide.

There you will be able to visit old slave chambers, the Monument of the Slaves and ancient auction sites while your guide will inform you about the history of slave trade on Zanzibar. The next cultural attraction on your tour will be a visit to the local Darajani Market. The market is divided into four areas: meat, fish, chicken as well as vegetables, fruits and spices. Experience the local living and get to know the local cooking habits! After your visit at the market you will wander through the streets while your guide explains you something about the famous Zanzibar doors until you reach the Old Dispensary close to the harbor, an artistic old building with a rich history.

Climb to the top and enjoy the stunning views over the harbor! You will continue your tour to the Freddie Mercury House, where he was born in 1946, a must-see for all Queen fans! After that you will be able to see the iconic Sultan House close to the harbor, also called the House of Wonders, which consists of a museum about local culture, cloths, religion and crafts. Your tour will end at the African House where you are able to refresh, have a drink and enjoy the sunset. (if you do the tour in the evening). After that you will be transferred back to your hotel with many great memories about the local culture, history and traditions.
